The moment I arrived at Lighthouse Marina Resort, I knew my weekend was going to be special. Nestled along the shores of Subic Bay, its striking lighthouse stood like a beacon of calm, promising relaxation and indulgence. I came here to unwind for the weekend but what I didn’t expect was to leave with a newfound appreciation for the sea, the community, and the power of giving back through various Subic activities.

A Room with a View at Lighthouse Marina Resort

Stepping into my suite, I was greeted by floor-to-ceiling windows framing a breathtaking view of Subic Bay. The soft ocean breeze and the distant sound of waves instantly put me at ease. The room was spacious and beautifully designed, offering the perfect blend of modern comfort and warm hospitality.

I sank into the plush bed, knowing this was exactly the kind of escape I had been craving at Lighthouse Marina Resort. One of my favorite features was the full-sized tub with a view of the room—perfect for a relaxing soak after a day of exploring. The eco-friendly toiletries, including shampoo, lotion, and body wash, were a thoughtful touch that aligned with the resort’s sustainability efforts.

Dining at The Sands: A Culinary Journey in Subic Bay

No getaway is complete without good food, and The Sands did not disappoint. As I indulged in a bowl of rich, peanut-infused Kare-Kare seafood and their crispy fried chicken. The flavors were familiar yet elevated, celebrating Filipino cuisine in a way that was both nostalgic and refined. The daily breakfast buffet was also very tasty and filling as well.

I also couldn’t resist trying their Kaldereta the next day—tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, it was the kind of dish that reminded me of family gatherings. With each bite, I savored the care and passion that went into every dish, making dining at Lighthouse Marina Resort a true highlight among our long list of Subic activities.

Discovering Subic Sailing Club: A Must-Try Among Subic Activities

After a lazy morning by the beachfront, I stumbled upon the Subic Sailing Club. Curious, I decided to join a beginner’s session. Learning the basics of sailing was both exhilarating and humbling. It reminded me of how deeply connected the Philippines is to the ocean, and how essential it is to pass this tradition on to younger generations.

Seeing kids as young as six mastering the ropes filled me with admiration. Sailing is a natural sport for us Filipinos, as we are natural born sailors with a rich history of seafaring and navigation dating as back as 5,000 years ago. Read more about our maritime roots here. This is one of the unique Subic activities that makes Lighthouse Marina Resort stand out.

A Meaningful Encounter with the Aeta Community Through Lighthouse Marina Resort

One of the most unexpected yet heartwarming parts of my stay was joining a sustainable tour organized by the Lighthouse Legacy Foundation in partnership with MAD Travel. Visiting the Aeta communities of Zambales, I learned about their culture, shared stories, and experienced their way of life.

It was a humbling experience, one that turned my weekend retreat into something more profound. Engaging in these cultural Subic activities made my stay at Lighthouse Marina Resort even more enriching. The foundation also holds scheduled tours to El Kabayo Falls and the Yangil community, providing guests with even more opportunities to connect with nature and the indigenous people of Zambales.

Giving Back: Coastal Cleanup Every Other Thursday with Lighthouse Marina Resort

Just when I thought my stay couldn’t get any more meaningful, I found myself participating in a coastal cleanup. Lighthouse Marina Resort has been at the forefront of this initiative since 2007, and seeing people come together to protect our shores was inspiring.
